Today marked the fourth meeting of the FIA Formula 1 Commission, held in Faenza at the VCARB team's office. The meeting was led by Nicholas Tombazis, FIA’s Director of Single-Seaters, and Stefano Domenicali, President and CEO of Formula 1.
The primary discussions centered around the technical, sporting, and financial regulations for 2026. The media release offered general statements, for instance, that the financial regulations would evolve from the current ones, while the technical regulations were being refined in collaboration with the FIA and teams.
Key points:
1. It was noted that the 2026 pre-season tests will consist of three parts, each three days long, to give teams ample opportunity to test the new power units.
2. Unfortunately, the "Rookie Race" concept has been postponed to 2025, despite active discussions and the desire from teams to hold it at the end of this season during the post-season tests in Abu Dhabi. The postponement was due to formal reasons: time and organizational constraints.
