News from the FIA Formula 1 Commission Meeting in Geneva 🇨🇭

The FIA held the fifth Formula 1 Commission meeting and summarized key points in a media release:

 

1. Technical Agenda for 2025
✅ Approved several technical changes, including the much-anticipated "driver cooling kit," initially planned for this season. Test results look promising.

 

2. Sporting Agenda for 2025
🔸 After the São Paulo GP, the Commission updated the grid formation protocol. If a car doesn’t make it to the start, the grid will shift forward to fill the empty space.
🔸 The discussion on rookie sprint races has been postponed to 2025, with the possibility of implementation no earlier than 2026.

 

3. Financial Regulations for 2025
💸 The Commission approved expanding budget exclusions for sustainable development initiatives, which will not be included in the 2025 budget cap.

 

4. 2026 Regulations
🔸 Progress is on track, with parts of the regulation set to be presented at the first World Motor Sport Council (WMSC) meeting in 2025.
🔸 Gender-neutral language will be introduced, underscoring FIA's commitment to inclusivity.
